Did God Create the Dinosaur?

Here’s the answer.

Creationists speak of dinosaur as those creatures that God created on days 5 and 6 including fish, birds, reptiles, and all mammals.

The word dinosaur is a misnomer. The word was actually created –not long ago — in 1842 when paleontologist Richard Owen coined the term. The word dinosaur is derived from the Greek deinos, meaning “terrible” or “fearfully great,” and sauros, meaning “lizard” or reptile.”

Since then many now extinct creatures have been dug up and have been given the generalized name dinosaur (although they were likely never “terrible” nor “lizards”). Even dolphin-like mammals such as the ichthyosaur found in the high desert of Nevada is generically called a dinosaur. And get this, this dolphin-like animal lived in water 4,000 feet ABOVE the ocean’s present level.

How did dolphin-like mammals and fossils or the remains of so many living creatures find themselves embedded into the surface of the earth the entire world over? Many creationists would point to the answer found in Genesis 6 which states that the whole world was covered in a turbulent and catastrophic flood during the days of Noah. An event that would be turbulent enough to bury living creatures including animals, reptiles, and birds — -and all living things — -the world over.

Here’s more, the Bible mentions the mighty Leviathan that lives in the ocean and the Behemoth that lives on land. The Bible’s description of the Leviathan seems to be what evolutionists would call today an Elasmosaurus and the Bible’s mention of a Behemoth could actually be what evolutionists call a Brachiosaurus. But check out those descriptions of God’s creation for yourselves in the Bible in Job 40 & 41.

Creationists would tell you that what we now call dinosaurs actually walked with man and were even named by Adam after creation (Gen 2:20). Creationists would also point out that the Bible specifically says that death didn’t exist prior to the fall of Adam and Eve (Romans 5:12). Since there was no death nor shedding of blood prior to Adam and Eve’s sin, logically the creation of all life including what we now call dinosaurs would have been created alongside man in the 5th and 6th days of creation.

The evidence points to an incredible and complex God and Creator!
