Time to Go

If you’ve ever wondered how “Red” came to mean STOP, and “Green” for GO? You’ll be interested to know that the colors were established well before the automobile was created.

In fact it was during the early years of the railroads. Believe it or not “Red” initially meant GO but train conductors would hesitate when they saw the color red thinking that it could be a warning and not a signal to continue full-steam ahead!

The color was THEN changed to “Green” for go…meaning calm pastures ahead! and “RED” was used for STOP! “Yellow” was added to the two as a transition. The color yellow just happens to be a good color that was easily distinguishable from the other two. These colors of “RED”, “Yellow”, and “Green” are now used on highways and byways world-wide.

Jesus gave us the green light when He ascended back into heaven. Matthew 28 says: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Amazingly God then gave us a promise to accompany His mandate to “Go”…He said “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

It’s our green light from God with great promise.
